The Edwards Christmas Village would like to extend our thanks to all those who supported this year’s event. This year we collected over $678.00 in cash, 444 items of food, numerous toiletry items, and bags of warm clothing, hats, pillows, bedding, and other needed items for Jusst Sooup Ministries.
We would like to express special thanks to The Freeman Brothers for the use of their land for parking, Billie Lynn Thompson for allowing the Hay sleigh ride to traverse her field, Del Dot for providing signage to warn of the slow moving vehicles, Walmart for a monetary donation, the volunteer choirs, dancers, and the numerous workers who gave their time to make this event a success.
When we delivered the donations to Dale at Jusst Sooup she asked me to express her sincere appreciation to everyone for the blessings of these gifts. All the items will be put to good use to help the ministry. Christmas time is especially hard to those in need.
While the donations collected for Jusst Sooup are most important, we also are pleased to have provided an evening of enjoyment for those who visited The Edwards Christmas Village. We shared together the meaning of Christmas with fun, food, and fellowship. This year our highlight was three themed trees. One tree represented the birth of Christ, one tree the life of Christ, and the final tree was adorned with nativity scenes. There is a reason for the season!
We have already began planning for next years event. The dates for 2019 are Dec 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th from 5pm to 9pm and Dec 8th from 1pm to 5pm. Mark your calendar. 2019 will be the year of the trains. We will have special train village displays with working trains. to where they are.
Dale need canned and dry goods that are within the sell by date. She must meet health codes so she cannot have food that is out of date. She also needs clean warm clothing and blankets for this time of year. Personal Hygiene, toiletries, combs, brushes are also appreciated. Even soap and laundry detergent is needed. Travel size items are useful for many of the homeless.
